Ways to give
Riders Alliance is supported by members like you!
There are so many ways to support our mission of fighting for better public transit. Explore the options below to find the best fit for you:
Transit Allies are our sustaining donors who contribute at least $5 a month. This diverse group of riders is connected by a passion for reliable, sustainable transit. We nerd out on trains and buses, volunteer our skills, make professional connections, signal boost transit advocacy with our networks, and meet up at super fun member events like picnics, happy hours, and the annual Riders Alliance gala.
It’s an easy way to make a real difference—just set it and forget it! A gift of any size makes a difference, but if you’re not sure where to start:
$6 is like one round-trip on the subway or bus.
$34 is the price of a one week unlimited Metrocard.
$132 is the equivalent of a one month unlimited Metrocard.
Individuals giving more than $1,000 annually, through direct contributions or any of the other methods listed on this page, are recognized as Conductors Council members. These donors receive a special welcome gift, exclusive invitations, and insider updates on Riders Alliance’s work and upcoming plans.
Joining the Conductors Council is a great way to be fully plugged into what we’re doing every day to fight for better public transportation for all New Yorkers—even if you can’t be with us at subway stations, bus shelters, and the halls of Albany. Join the Conductors Council with a one-time gift of $1,000+ or monthly gift of $85.
Through our annual fall gala, we raise critical resources to support rider advocacy all year long. Every year, the event features all of our favorite traditions: live music, delicious cocktails and bites, transit-themed games and swag, and lots more. The best party for public transit celebrates elected officials, members of the media, and our powerful community of public transit riders and advocates.
There are plenty of ways to get involved with the gala, whether by joining our host committee, sponsoring through your business, or purchasing a general admission ticket to join the fun.
To ensure you’re in the loop on all things gala-related, be sure to subscribe to our email list!
Who doesn’t love online shopping? When you place an order through our online merch store, a portion of your purchase comes back to support our work directly. Your new swag will not only look good, but you’ll also feel good knowing you helped make a difference!
Many employers match tax-deductible employee contributions to Riders Alliance Fund, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. If your company participates in an employee-giving program, you can double the impact of your generous gift.
You can find out if your company matches charitable contributions using the search tool on this page from Charity Navigator. Then, ask your benefits administrator how to enroll.
A donor-advised fund (DAF) is an investment account with the sole purpose of supporting charitable organizations you care about. When you contribute to your DAF, you’ll receive an immediate tax deduction. Then, you can work with your financial advisor to recommend a grant to Riders Alliance Fund. You can give all at once, or schedule contributions over multiple months or even years.
Your financial advisor may ask you for Riders Alliance Fund’s EIN: 84-3709393.
